About us

Horse Adventure Tours is a small family business founded in 2017. It is located about 10 minutes from Aljezur in the center of Vale da Telha, in the heart of the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve in the Algarve. Our company offers various services such as horseback riding lessons, horseback riding tours, horseback riding holidays as well as therapeutic horseback riding.

The business consists of 7 horses that live in a family environment and spend the whole year on the field. These are trained using natural riding methods, making all of them well-balanced, reliable and well-behaved animals.

Our team

Barbara Jäger

Barbara Jäger is responsable for the accomodation that we offer. She has available rooms, apartments and houses. Katya Jäger

Katya Jäger is the head of the small business and responsable not only for the training of the horses, but also caring for them in good and bad days. She is their partner, their keeper and their friend. She is also responsible to guide the tours, work as teacher and give therapies. She is a qualified sociologist and riding therapist since september of 2021. She has more then 20 years experience with horses - rode since 2001 and also worked as a horse trainer since 2013.

Daniel Aguiar

Daniel Aguiar is also a very important member of this business as he is the assistance trainer. When necessary he also takes care of the horses and he is seen mainly as a friend to them. He has learned the natural horsemanship methods from Clinton Anderson which he mainly uses, also the methods of Parelli and Monti Roberts are sometimes at the base of the trainings.

Our Horses

All our horses are checked regularly by the ferrier and the equine doctor to ensure they are 100% healthy. We keep training them regularly to maximize each horse’s abilities. We place a big emphasis on desensitizing our horses in order to get them used to the different situations that can occur in the different activities that we offer.

Estrela

Estrela is an Anglo arabic mare born on July 6th of 2000. She has been with us since 2004 and previosly did trail rides, horseback riding lessons and horseback riding therapies. Nowadays she is retired and enjoying the rest of her life in open fields alongside other horses.

Kiran

Kiran is an english full blood cross anglo arabic gelding, son of Estrela and Marquês. He was born with us on April 23rd of 2011. He is a horse with a good temperament and always willing this makes him a good horse for sport and distance trails.

Kiara

Kiara is a portuguese cross mare born on May 13th of 2021. She has been with us since she was two and a half months old. She is very smart and curious about everything and will make a wonderfull riding horse in the future.

Safira

Safira is a portuguese cross mare born on March 19th of 2017. She has been with us since march 2022 and until now has done trail rides, horseback riding lessons and horseback riding therapies. She is a very inteligent mare that adapts to each rider making her easy to handle. Lovely and trustfull in every aspect.

Fiona

Fiona is a luso arabic cross lusitano mare born on February 28th of 2020. She has been with us since 2022 and has been learning the basics. She is a very calm mare and loves to learn and participate in the trainings. She is very trusting and will make a wonderfull riding horse in the future.

Aaron

Aaron is an Anglo arabic gelding born on January 8th of 2017. He has been with us since January of 2023 until now he has done trail rides and horseback riding lessons. He is very carismatic and loves to be next to humans. Tours with his friends in the nature is what he most likes to do. He is very inteligent and a very emotional horse that likes to express his feelings.
